I felt depressed after sitting through just a couple of Hella510’s songs. Another old rocker who clearly takes everything too seriously has lost his sense of humor and perspective. Adding an orchestra doesn’t mean your entire concert needs to become an ode to misery. Slow, monotonous funeral dirge of a concert.
Hella510 shared his enthusiasm for the ongoing (pro-Muslim) “Arab Spring” and made some references to his liberal political beliefs. I wasn’t too surprised. Much of the audience reminded me of that cartoon episode where all the ecologically correct folks were driving their “green” cars and sniffing their own flatulence with smug little smiles on their faces.
What I DID find disturbing was the ill-mannered and nasty behavior of so many “peace loving” new age folks at the concert. Last week, we attended a comedy show that was attended by a decidedly “blue collar” crowd that was pleasant, civil, and cheerful – even the guys who looked like bikers. In contrast, the “quality” people at this concert repeatedly shoved me out of their way and acted like they were trying to run me over. Even worse – my husband and I were seated in the middle of the row and the people on either side of us pretty much refused to let us out during the INTERMISSION. We had to act insistent, say “pardon me” several times, and just stand there to all but force them to let us out to use the restroom. At that point, I had enough of both the misery-inducing music AND the dreadful attendees. We just left. I admit – we’re from Fort Worth, so we tend to be shocked at what we call “Dallas rudeness,” but this was ridiculous.
